Barry Lin DDS Principal Dentist
Dr. Barry Lin was originally from Taiwan and grew up in New York. He completed his undergraduate education in Cornell University majoring in biological engineering. He then earned his doctor of dental surgery degree at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. After receiving his doctorate degree, Dr. Lin completed two years of training working alongside veterans at the Bronx VA Medical Center.
Dr. Lin continuously engages in continuing education courses to stay current on the latest dental knowledge, procedures and technology.
He takes the time to listen to every patient and is a strong believer that establishing a relationship with every patient will go a long way to achieve not just a healthy smile but also a complete state of wellness.
Dr. Lin recently relocated with his wife to Houston. During his downtime, he enjoys traveling and exploring restaurants around the city. He also loves to spend time with his puppy. Dr. Lin is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese and is looking forward to working with you!
Paul LeTellier Jr, DDS, MS Endodontist
As the child of a dentist in the military, Dr. Paul moved frequently as a child. He went to high school in Mobile, Alabama and attended college at Loyola University of New Orleans.
Upon graduating from Loyola University of New Orleans, Dr. Paul received a Masters in Science from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA.
After graduate school, Dr. Paul attended Virginia Commonwealth School of Dentistry. Dr. Paul graduated first in his dental school class which led him to his residency in Endodontics at Virginia Commonwealth School of Dentistry. After his residency in Endodontics, Dr. Paul moved to Houston in 2010 and has called Houston home ever since.
Dr. Paul has been married to his lovely wife Candyce for over 15 years. He has two wonderful girls who keep him busy with soccer and horse back riding. In his spare time, Dr. Paul enjoys running and training for marathons. He appreciates his opportunity to provide dental care to the communities of Houston.
Steve Ragsdale DDS
Dr. Ragsdale received his training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) School of Dentistry, graduating in 2016. In that same year, he began his residency training at the University of Texas at San Antonio and completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) in 2017.
Through his training as an AEGD resident, Dr. Ragsdale administered IV sedation and performed complicated surgeries for both healthy and medically-compromised patients. During his residency, he discovered that his passion in dentistry was to provide IV sedation and oral surgery services to his patients. It was then that he decided to focus his career as a general dentist on providing these in-house services to other practitioners.
In addition to his many distinguishing memberships, Dr. Ragsdale is trained and certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). He is also fluent in Spanish.
Dannie S. Yu MS, DDS Chief Dental Officer
Dr. Yu grew up here in Houston and graduated from Alief Hastings H.S. Afterwards he chose to expand his horizons and received his BA in the History of Art from the University of Michigan, followed by a Masters in Human Physiology at Georgetown University then ultimately his DDS from the University of Michigan again. Dr. Yu is credentialed by International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). Also as a published biochemistry researcher, Dr. Yu brings many years of scientific training and expertise with his unique artistic background to the benefit of Avalon Dental’s patient family.
Dr. Shabnaaz Kamal Orthodontist
Dr. Shabnaaz Kamal is your dedicated orthodontist, committed to achieving your best smile. Her passion is to ensure your happiness and satisfaction with her services for you and your family. Dr. Kamal attended New York University College of Dentistry where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. She went on to earn her MSD in Orthodontics at Saint Louis University Center for Advanced Dental Education as well as her HBSc in Human Biology and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto. Additionally, Dr. Kamal holds the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dr. William S. Kramer Award of Excellence and is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and Orthodontic Education and Research Foundation.
In her free time, she enjoys quality moments with her husband, family visits, travel, hiking, and exploring Houston’s culinary delights. Dr. Kamal is an avid fan of Roger Federer and enjoys basketball and tennis and she enjoys escaping to her hometown, Toronto, any chance she gets.
