Shinoy Abraham, DMD Dentist

Dr. Shinoy Abraham was born and raised in Houston, TX. During his undergraduate studies at Houston Baptist University, he was also a dental assistant for Healthcare for the Homeless Houston. This clinic catered to the underserved community in Downtown Houston. It was there he felt his calling was to serve others through the field of dentistry.

After completing undergrad, he felt it was time to see life outside the city. This took him to Utah, where he attended Roseman University College of Dental Medicine to achieve his goal of becoming a dentist. Hiking and skiing became his new hobbies. In addition to enjoying the great outdoors, he was also able to work in the underserved populations in local community health clinics throughout Utah as well as an Indian Health Service clinic in Wewoka, Oklahoma.

Dr. Abraham strives to be a lifelong learner through continuing education courses in all facets of dentistry. His current focuses are cosmetic and implant dentistry. His goal as a dental provider is to create trustworthy relationships through patient education and to exceed his patient’s expectation and experience.

Dr. Abraham is Invisalign certified and also a member of several professional dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the Greater Houston Dental Society.

When not practicing dentistry, he loves spending time with his wife, Christy. They enjoy traveling, exploring the Houston food scene, and cheering on all the Houston sports teams.

Julie Seo, DDS Dentist

Dr. Seo first encountered dentistry when she worked as a dental assistant during her undergraduate years. She received her Master of Biomedical Sciences at Rutgers School of Graduate Studies in NJ, then ultimately earned Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University College of Dentistry. Dr. Seo continued to broaden her clinical knowledge and skills as a dental resident at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, NY.

Dr. Seo moved to Houston in 2017 and has been practicing dentistry to provide quality comprehensive care with the latest technologies. She routinely participates in continuing education to maintain progressive skills in general dentistry. Dr. Seo is a member of various professional dental organizations including American Dental Association and the Greater Houston Dental Society. Dr. Seo’s passion is to help patients have pleasant dental experiences with her gentle but effective approaches.

Dr. Seo calls Houston her second home and is happily married to her husband, Nathan, and keeps herself busy with her son, Oliver, and 2 pets when she is not treating patients.

Steve Ragsdale, DDS

Dr. Ragsdale received his training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) School of Dentistry, graduating in 2016. In that same year, he began his residency training at the University of Texas at San Antonio and completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) in 2017.

Through his training as an AEGD resident, Dr. Ragsdale administered IV sedation and performed complicated surgeries for both healthy and medically-compromised patients. During his residency, he discovered that his passion in dentistry was to provide IV sedation and oral surgery services to his patients. It was then that he decided to focus his career as a general dentist on providing these in-house services to other practitioners.

In addition to his many distinguishing memberships, Dr. Ragsdale is trained and certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). He is also fluent in Spanish.

Dannie S. Yu MS, DDS Chief Dental Officer

Dr. Yu grew up here in Houston and graduated from Alief Hastings H.S. Afterwards he chose to expand his horizons and received his BA in the History of Art from the University of Michigan, followed by a Masters in Human Physiology at Georgetown University then ultimately his DDS from the University of Michigan again. Dr. Yu is credentialed by International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). Also as a published biochemistry researcher, Dr. Yu brings many years of scientific training and expertise with his unique artistic background to the benefit of Avalon Dental’s patient family.

After his training, Dr. Yu returned to Houston and settled down to raise his family and start his dental practice in Sugar Land. Relying on his faith and professional ethics, he decided to bring his vision of a dental practice that provides the most advanced and proven dental care with the trust and relationships of the small town neighborhood dentist to his community. Over the years, Dr. Yu and Avalon Dental has provided this comprehensive and compassionate care to thousands of loyal neighbors and friends that comprise our patient family.

When not caring for and sharing a laugh with his patients, Dr. Yu can be found around town trying out new and tasty restaurants and spending time traveling and chanting “Go Blue!” while watching his Michigan Wolverines play.

Biography
I have been practicing dentistry since 2009. I was one of three graduates selected for residency at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. As a native Ghanaian, I grew up watching and enjoying soccer, which has developed into the passion I have for the sport today. I’m also a Philadelphia eagles fan (sorry cowboy fans). I’m married to an amazing woman and have 2 wonderful girls. I am a complete girl dad and wouldn’t have it any other way. Finally, I love to cook and barbecue for family and friends.
